The SpermVD, is an innovative and efficient medical device for cryopreservation of small numbers of spermatozoa.
The SpermVD allows quick and convenient vitrification of spermatozoa (or even a single cell). The thawing process is equally simple, as the small size of the droplets allows quick retrieval of the sperm, which may be used immediately for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection).
The SpermVD enables uncoupling of sperm retrieval from ovum pick-up, minimizing the need for oocyte freezing and for emergency testicular biopsy on OPU (Ovum Pick Up) day.
After a testicular biopsy, it permits splitting up the spermatozoa found and freezing them in several separate SpermVD devices, with just the right amount necessary for a single ICSI cycle in each unit. This effectively enables splitting the yield of a single testicular biopsy, avoiding unnecessarily repeated surgery for sperm recovery and providing optimal cryopreservation after TESE procedures.

SpermVD DISH - CE marked
The SpermVD DISH is an accessory for SpermVD designed to enhance and optimize the process of freezing and warming small numbers of spermatozoa.
The SpermVD DISH is a 60mm-wide Petri dish containing a niche-like indentation specifically designed to fit the SpermVD. The accessory product provides several advantages over other dishes, commonly used for searching, preserving, heating and injecting rare sperm:
Stability
The niche prevents the SpermVD shifting, when the dish is moved around, allowing easier and safer work for the embryologist.
Focal Plane
The niche brings the SpermVD to the same focal plane as the surface of the SpermVD DISH, eliminating the need to adjust the height of the micromanipulator arm.
CE Mark
The SpermVD DISH is CE Marked and MEA tested, thus suitable to serve as an ICSI dish for all purposes.
ICSI Dish too
The location of the niche near the perimeter leaves enough room for a standard ICSI layout, so retrieved spermatozoa can be injected immediately.
The SpermVD is used routinely in MFC-Global’s associated laboratory.
